EXPLOSION5.NE.012903.SDL -- Mary Rice, a firefighter with the Sandy Bottom Volunteer Fire Department, waits to be called in to battle a blaze at West Pharmaceutical Services in Kinston. An explosion early in the day Wednesday destroyed the building and the number of fatalities are unknown.

Potential customers were allowed to browse through the store and get free samples of items, however, they were not allowed to make any purchases. Some potential customers stood in line for an hour to see the store.

ENLOERIVERSIDE.SP.082803.SDL -- "The energy for Coach Wrenn was so strong they almost pulled me out with a gravitational force," Lindsay Ladd, 17, said after the players rushed by as she held a banner atop other cheerleaders' shoulders. The players huddled before their opening game of the season getting pumped up with memories of their coach, Linny Wrenn, who died of a heart attack over the summer. Riverside won, 21-0, in the first game of the season at Linny Wrenn Stadium.
